At 85 km from HCMC, Moc Bai is the nearest border crossingto the city. It is located adjacent to Hoa Binh Airport in Tay Ninh Province and the VamCo Dong River and lies on the traps-Asia road. Dung said he hoped Moc Bai, would become afocal trading center for Vietnam, Cambodia and other South East Asian countries.
Vietnam exports to Thailand and other regional countriesmainly by water and air at the moment but the traps-Asia road will be the major route fortransporting goods in the future, Amasco deputy director Dang Thi Thuy Ngan said. "Weare investing in this project to seize the opportunity," she said.
"Quang Dung will set up stations to buy farm producesuch as soya beans and sliced cassava and dried fish, which are in abundance in Cambodia,to supply local firms and sell animal feed and light industrial goods as Cambodia only hasone animal feed firm, owned by Thai group CP," Dung said. The project also encourageslocal investors to build factories, produce and sell goods to Cambodia.
Vietnam and Cambodia mainly trade via the border in smallvolumes. "The two countries will boost official trades in the future and localenterprises will be interested in the project," Ngan said
