JAPAN'S
INVESTMENT IN VIET NAM TOTALS USD 3.5 BILLION
Ha Noi, Apr. 19 (VNA) -- Japan's investment in Viet
Nam doubled in 2001 thanks to its improved investment
environment, bringing Japan's total investment in the country to
USD 3.5 billion.
This was announced at a press briefing held in Ha
Noi on April 18 by the Japanese delegation to the third regular
session of the Viet Nam-Japan Working Group on trade and
investment.
The session took place in an atsmosphere of
openness, frankness and mutual trust.
The Japanese side expressed their appreciation for
the Vietnamese
Government's clear resolve to continue building on the great
achievements it has gained in improving the country's invesment
environment.
The two sides agreed to convene the next regular
sessions of the joint working group in early 2003. They
expressed their belief that with the signing of the Viet
Nam-Japan Trade Agreement and preparations to celebrate the 30th
anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2003, the bilateral trade
relations as well as cooperation between Viet Nam and Japan in
improving investment environment will see an active development
for the benefit and prosperity of both countries.--VNA
