EXHIBITIONS AND FAIRS IN VIET NAM

   Ha Noi, Apr. 18 (VNA) -- An international exhibition on shipbuilding technology, navigation and marine transport was opened at the Viet Nam Fair and Exhibition Centre in Ha Noi today.
   The exhibition, co-organised by Ha Noi's Commercial Department, the Viet Nam ShipBuilding Industry Corporation (VINASHIN) and the Vinexpo company, is designed to introduce the national ship-building industry's achievements in recent years and to facilitate more international cooperation.
   The exhibition, which will run through Apr. 21, drew around 100 businesses and economic organisations from Russia, Germany, Italy, China, Denmark, Singapore and the host country.
   * Mekong Expo 2002
   The Mekong Expo 2002 will be held in the Mekong delta province of Can Tho from Apr. 25-May. 2.
   The Mekong Expo 2002, themed "Cooperation for development of Viet Nam's fisheries", will focus on advances in aquaculture techniques and technology and the protection of the environment and marine resources.
   With the participation of more than 50 local and foreign-invested businesses in the country and those from Taiwan, it is expected to see the signing of a number of economic and investment contracts on fisheries.
   On the sidelines of the expo, there will be seminars and dialogues held for scientists, managers, businessmen and fishermen on the fish market and food safety, aquaculture, exploitation and protection of marine resources and seafood production and business.
   *Viet Nam-China Tourism Fair
   Viet Nam and China will organise their trade and tourism fair in Mong Cai township of the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh from Apr. 28-May 3 with the aim of accelerating their economic cooperation.
   The fair will have 380 pavilions of businesses from China's cities and provinces such as Beijing, Chonqing, Guangxi, Guangdong, Shanghai, Hubei, and Hunan, and 150 pavilions of Vietnamese businesses which will display high-tech industrial products, seafood, agricultural materials, and consumer goods.
   To help Vietnamese and Chinese businesses seek partners and expand their market, a dialogue on commercial and economic relations between Vietnamese and Chinese businesses will be held on Apr. 28 on the sidelines of the fair.--VNA
