The petroleum industry exploited 8.4 million tons of crude oil in the first half of this year, and exported 8.5 million tons worth more than US$1.5 billion. The Government has endorsed a list of oil and gas projects calling for investment, including 28 blocks in the Gulf of Tonkin, Central waters, Nam Con Son Basin and southwestern waters. It has also listed seven oil and gas projects in need of foreign investment. Key projects are Oil Refinery No.2 (US$1.5 bil.), a gas pipeline from Block B to O Mon (US$300 mil.), a petro-chemical plant (US$17 mil.) and an industrial gas plant (US$10 mil.)
