VIETNAMESE AND
NAMIBIAN FOREIGN MINISTRIES TO SET UP WORKING GROUP
Ha Noi, July 28 (VNA)
-- The foreign ministries of Viet Nam and Namibia have agreed to
set up a working group in preparation for the establishment of a
joint committee for economic, commercial, cultural, scientific
and technological cooperation.
The agreement was reached during a meeting in Ha
Noi on July 28 between Nguyen Dinh Bin, Acting Foreign Minister;
and Theo Ben Gurirab, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Information
and Broadcasting, who is accompanying President Sam Nujoma on a
three-day official visit to Viet Nam.
Bin informed his guest of the latest developments
in Viet Nam and the region and discussed Viet Nam's foreign
policy. He emphasised the the Vietnamese Government and people's
desire to further the friendship and cooperation between Viet
Nam and Namibia.
The two diplomats spoke highly of the cooperation
and mutual assistance during their nation's struggles for
national independence, and the ongoing process of national
construction and development in each country.
They expressed great appreciation of the results of
President S. Nujoma's visit to Viet Nam and described the
signing of the Viet Nam-Namibia Agreement on Economic-Commercial,
Cultural, and Scientific-Technological Cooperation between the
two countries as an important step for the further enhancement
of bilateral economic and commercial ties, thus bringing them to
the level of the strong political ties.
Also on July 28, Deputy Trade Minister Mai Van Dau
and Vice President of the Viet Nam Chamber of Trade and Industry
Pham Chi Lan hosted receptions for Namibian Trade and Industry
Minister Hidipo Hamutenya.
President S. Nujoma and his entourage paid floral
tributes to the monument of war martyrs and President Ho Chi
Minh's Mausoleum, and visited other sites including the Temple
