India to help set up nuclear centre for peaceful purposes
India will help Vietnam establish a training centre on nuclear development for peaceful purposes in Da Lat of Central Highlands Lam Dong province.
This was stated by India's Minister of State for External Affairs Oma Abdullah at a reception held in New Delhi on Monday evening, January 7, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-India diplomatic ties.
The Indian minister also highlighted the traditional friendship and comprehensive co-operation between India and Vietnam since they established diplomatic ties on January 7 of 1972. He thanked Vietnam for its support to India in the international arena.
He praised the effective co-operation between the two countries in agriculture, science and technology, information technology, atomic energy, public health, education, trade, tourism, and national defence.
On this occasion, Vietnam's Ambassador to India Pham Sy Tam delivered a speech broadcast to the All-India Television and Radio in which he reiterated the Vietnamese people's resolve to preserve and develop the time-honoured Vietnam-India relations cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and Prime Minister J Nehru.
Earlier, on January 6, Ambassador Tam gave a reception to mark the anniversary.
On Monday evening, Vietnam's traditional art troupe gave its first performance at Sapruh theatre in New Delhi to welcome the event. The visiting troupe will continue to perform in Calcutta and Hyderabad cities. (VNA)
