German businesses wish to boost co-operation
Small and medium-sized enterprises in Germany, particularly in Berlin and Brandenburg State, wish to expand economic co-operation with Vietnam, said Executive General Director Michael Bose of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Association of Berlin and Brandenburg State.
According to Mr Bose, the government of Germany and German entrepreneurs share the view that Vietnam has a stable investment environment and good potential for economic co-operation development. This represents a new market for German enterprises, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Berlin and Brandenburg State.
If German enterprises do not move quickly, they will be late in entering Vietnam, particularly now when the Vietnam-US Bilateral Trade Agreement has taken effect, Mr Bose quoted German Chancellor Gerhand Schroeder as saying.
The association recognises that if German enterprises pay attention only to large scale co-operation by pouring investment into telecommunications, infrastructure construction, and transport-communication industries, Germany's SMEs will suffer losses. However, by expanding co-operation with Vietnam, these SMEs will develop their potential in handicraft production, tourism, and social and medical services, Mr Bose added.
At present, the association has 1,700 member businesses, 20,000 individual members, and more than 80,000 workers in 70 economic sectors. (VNA)
