THAILAND, MYANMAR, INDIA TO
BUILD HIGHWAY LINKING THREE NATIONS
Yangon, Apr. 7 (VNA) -- An agreement to build a highway linking
India's eastern part to Thailand's western part through Myanmar was reached by
the three countries' foreign ministers in Yangon on Apr. 6.
The highway WAS designed to boost trade, investment and tourism
cooperation between the three nations.
Thai Foreign Minister Surakiart Sathirathai, his Indian counterpart
Jaswant Singh and first secretary of the Myanmar State Peace and Development
Council Lt. Gen. Khin Nyunt pledged to complete the construction of the 1,600-km
highway in two years. They expressed their belief that apart from facilitating
communication activities between the three countries, the completion of the
highway will help promote cooperation among the three countries'
localities.--VNA
