MALAYSIAN PRIME MINISTER LEAVES FOR U.S. VISIT

   Kuala Lumpur, May 12 (VNA) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad left Kualar Lumpur for London on May 11 enroute to the United States for an official visit.
   PM Mahathir is accompanied by Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar, Primary Industries Minister Lim Keng Yaik and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Rais Yatim.
   During his U.S. visit scheduled from May 13-15, the Malaysian PM will meet President George W. Bush to discuss, among others, Malaysia's efforts to tackle terrorism and development in West Asia.
   He also plans to meet U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell and Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on May 15.
   The total trade volume between the two countries amounted to some USD 32 billion last year.--Enditem
