AUSTRALIA,
THAILAND LOOK TO BILATERAL FREE TRADE ACCORD
Sydney, May 22 (VNA) --
Australia and Thailand have obtained a new step towards
negotiations on a free trade accord (FTA), Australian Trade
Minister Mark Vaile announced.
He was in Bangkok on May 21, together with his Thai
counterpart reviewing a just-completed report on joint study on
the FTA.
Within 20 years, the FTA would raise GDP of
Australia and Thailand by AUD 13 billion and AUD 50 billion,
respectively, the study affirmed.
Vaile said the promising agreement would boost the
two countries' economic ties in all fields.
In the 2000-2001 period, Thailand was Australia's
14th largest trade partner with a two-way trade turnover valued
at AUD 6 billion.--Enditem
