US $5 million earned from tea export

The Vietnam Tea Corporation earned US $5 million in the first six months of this year from exporting 4,000 tonnes of tea.

The corporation has set a target of gaining US $46 million in export turnover this year. In order to achieve the target, the corporation will invest in upgrading equipment and renewing technology for its affiliates to improve the quality of its products, thus helping increase the competitiveness on foreign markets. The corporation has accelerated its promotion campaigns in Commonwealth of Independent States, Poland, Taiwan, Holland and Germany.

To gain a sustainable development in the future by upgrading Vietnamese tea, the corporation has imported some kinds of tea seedlings from Japan, China, Turkey, India and Indonesia.

Vietnamese tea has been exported to 50 countries and territories in the world. Vietnam now occupies the eighth position among 20 processing and export countries in the world with about 70,000 tonnes of tea exported each year
